  6. The cornea can be scanned with 
  7. diffuse illumination in order to 
  8. detect many abnormalities.  
  9. Corneal scars, neovasculization, 
  10. infiltrates, abrasions, foreign 
  11. bodies, and other conditions can 
  12. often be seen with diffuse 
  13. illumination.  These are not to 
  14. be confused with the light 
  15. source reflection from the 
  16. cornea (#1) or the reflection 
  17. from the crystalline lens (#2).
